Features

Class & Module Organization

  • Create virtual classes that mirror your course structure.
  • Organize content into modules, similar to Canvas, for easy navigation and clear topic separation.

Interactive AI Conversations

  • Students can engage in AI-powered chats within each module.
  • The AI draws upon the uploaded course materials to provide informed responses.

Knowledge Integration

  • Upload course materials (e.g., PDFs, documents) to specific modules.
  • The AI processes these materials, allowing students to "chat" with and query the content.

Progress Monitoring

  • Track student interactions with the AI to gauge engagement and understanding.
  • Use insights to refine your teaching approach or identify areas needing clarification.

Custom Prompts

  • Design tailored prompts for each module to guide student interactions.
  • Use prompts to focus discussions on specific assignments, readings, or topics.

  • Students join your class via a unique code or link.
  • They can create new chats or resume previous conversations at any time.

ClassChat Quick Start

  1. Access ClassChat:Visit https://classchat.zotgpt.uci.edu and log in with your UCI credentials.
  2. Set Up Your Class:Click on "Create New Class" and enter your course details. Alternatively, join an existing class using a provided link or code.
  3. Create Modules:Within your class, create modules to organize your course content. Think of modules as units or topics within your course.
  4. Add Content to Modules:Upload course materials (PDFs, documents) to relevant modules. Create custom prompts to guide student interactions with the AI.
  5. Process Your Content:After uploading, select "Process Knowledge" to make your content available for AI interactions. This step allows the AI to understand and reference your materials.
  6. Test Your Module:Start a new chat within the module to test how the AI interacts with your content. Ensure the AI accurately represents your uploaded materials.
  7. Invite Students:Generate a class code or link from your class settings. Share this with your students so they can join your ClassChat course.
  8. For Students:Students will join your class using the provided code or link. They can then access modules, start new chats, or resume existing conversations.

AI Capabilities: Strengths and Limitations

Efficiently searches vast knowledge bases for specific details
Compares and contrasts both visual and textual information
Provides 24/7 access to course content for student queries
Offers consistent responses to common questions, reducing repetitive instructor workload
Adapts to various learning styles through different types of interactions
Limitations
Some responses may be marked as uncertain due to the AI's knowledge boundaries
Processing time can be slow, especially for large documents
Potential for AI hallucinations (convincing but incorrect information)
Current limit of 1200 pages per module (larger documents need splitting across modules)
AI filters may flag some content and refuse to process it
